Write for us
Western Style Journal welcomes considered contributions that help readers understand western clothing, craft, objects, architecture or visual culture. Send proposals through the Contact page rather than submitting a finished article without an agreed pitch.
What we welcome
We consider clear explainers, comparisons, visual readings, histories of design details and essays that give a familiar object or style a useful context. Strong proposals address a distinct question and show why it matters to readers interested in the American West.
What to include
Describe the proposed subject, the central idea, the intended reader and the shape of the piece. Mention the information or sources you expect to draw on, any relevant images or permissions, and whether the proposal has been offered elsewhere. Keep the pitch focused enough that its angle is easy to distinguish from a broad topic.
A careful approach
We value precise language, attention to regional and cultural differences, and a willingness to separate documented background from interpretation. Avoid romantic generalisations and claims that make one tradition stand for every western community. Contributors should be prepared to clarify sources and revise for accuracy and house style.
How to propose
Use the Contact page and select the editorial question option, then explain that your message is a contribution proposal. A pitch is not an offer of publication, and no response time or publication outcome is promised.
