Editorial policy
Western Style Journal aims to make its explanations accurate, understandable and careful about context. Readers should be able to tell what a piece is saying, what supports it and where interpretation begins.
Accuracy and context
We check names, terminology and historical claims against reliable information before publication, and we avoid stating more than the available support allows. When a subject has competing interpretations or varies by place and period, we explain that distinction rather than smoothing it away. Descriptions of design are not instructions for professional work.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions are made separately from commercial arrangements. Any paid, sponsored or partner material is identified clearly as such, so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial coverage. A collaboration does not guarantee favourable treatment or editorial approval.
Corrections
If a reader spots an error, they can send the relevant passage and the reason for concern through the Contact page. We review correction requests and amend material when warranted, making the change clear where appropriate.
Images and illustrations
Images are chosen to support the subject and are not always documentary evidence. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when that is the case, they are identified so readers can distinguish illustration from a historical or factual photograph.
